Craft Show, A Child & Pet Rocks

When I found out I had to take my daughter to a craft show to sell my work, I was concerned!
Will she behave? Will she be polite? Will she stay with me?
I kept trying to think of ways to keep her busy while I was selling my crafts. I have never taken her to a craft show for the entire day. She is only 5. She likes to explore and has a mind of her own! Sometimes her dad would bring her to visit for a little but she has never stayed for the whole day.
I remembered a while ago when my wonderful craft show neighbor and I were talking about kids and craft shows. She said when her son was younger that she would let him make stuff to sell. It would keep him there at the table because he was afraid he would miss selling something. Well I had to try it because I had no choice. She was going whether I liked it or not!
The night before the show, I took her to the store and bought her some craft supplies to make pet rocks. She was so excited to be going and selling something. When we got home, she sat outside and made all the rocks that we bought. Yes, all 28 of them! I couldn't believe she was sitting still that long to make them at age 5! They were SO cute to say the least!  After she was all done, I was gaining some confidence that she could do it! I rested a little easier that night knowing that she was excited and willing to be there with me for the day.
Here is the Instagram picture from the night before!
The day was here and it was time to go! She woke up excited and got ready to go. In fact, she was ready before I was for a change! We arrived at the show, found our space and setup. She had her container full of rocks and was ready to be a little saleswoman!  The day started off slow for both of us. The rain showers didn't help. She sold her first rock around 11am. She was super excited, used her manners and said thank you! I was one proud mama!
Throughout the day it got busier and she ended up selling 18 pet rocks! After the show was over, she sold a few more to family and is almost out of stock!
Remember to always supervise your children while making crafts. Some glues can be toxic.
What are some other ideas you  use to keep your kids busy at craft shows?

DIY Fish Party

Every year I do a theme birthday party for my daughter. Well this year, she wanted me to surprise her! It was hard planning the party when she was trying to spy on me every minute but somehow I managed to pull it off!
We love to go fishing and I knew it was going to be a perfect theme this year. I spent hours on Pinterest and Etsy looking for ideas. I purchased the images on Etsy and I had the freedom to create anything I wanted for her party! Usually I buy a printable party on Etsy. I don't seem to use everything in the printable party so I wanted to design my own.
Here are some pictures from the party!
I have the same lady make her cake every year. She did a great job!

I always do a single cake for her and then everyone else gets cupcakes.
My mother makes the cupcakes!
I found this pink craft box that served the purpose as a tackle box for candy!
I made dirt (crushed oreos and gummy worms) for the bottom and
I filled the little sections with gummy fish, worms, butterflies, frogs and mints!
The jars were filled with:
Fish Sticks- lollipop sticks with gummy fish on them
Fishing Line- Pull and Peel Licorice
Fishing Rods- Pretzel Rods
Puffer Fish- Punch Balloons
I peeled the labels off of bubbles and made my own fish breath!

These were the favors that we gave all the kids when they left!
They are little tackle boxes filled with gummy candy and fish soap wrapped on top!
My wonderful friend, Pam, from Lazy Days Skin Care made the soap! It smells SO delicious!
She also has a website! Check it out here ----
I can't believe my baby is growing up and will be off to school next year!
This party was such a hit and everyone had so much fun!
Pin it and share with your friends!

Tips for Finding The Beauty In Nature

This week I decided to post some inspiring nature quotes on Facebook. I am a true nature lover and I appreciate it's beauty. I go outside everyday and it is such a joyful feeling. Best of all, It's FREE! When I am able to slow down, stop and admire, it's very satisfying. I also garden and compost to try and give back a little. My daughter also helps me garden. It's an invaluable lesson that I can teach her to be kind to the earth and enjoy its beauty.
Here are some ways to enjoy nature:
Watch the sunrise and sunset.
Look at the moon and stars.
Go barefoot.
Plant something. Watch it grow.
Watch the clouds roll by.
Lay in the grass.
Enjoy the sunlight on your skin. (in moderation, with sunscreen)
Pick wildflowers and put them in a vase.
Listen to a stream and watch the sunlight reflect on the water.
Play in the rain.
Watch ants.
Go fishing.
Take a nature walk.
Identify flowers and trees.
Listen to the frogs peep at night.
Nature is really good medicine. Enjoy it. Take care of it. Educate about it.
Here are some nature quotes I found on Pinterest.

Enjoy your week!
